TRIAL DESCRIPTION
Public title efficacy of postural exercises with kinesio taping on electromyographic activities in neck pain
Official scientific title Efficacy of Kinesio Taping and Postural Correction Exercises on levator scapula electromyographic activities in mechanical cervical dysfunction: a randomized blinded clinical trial: A Randomized Blinded Clinical Trial
Brief summary describing the background and objectives of the trial Background: Mechanical neck dysfunction (MND) is commonly growing in numbers and affecting the young adults in their occupational abilities and performance. The superficial cervical extensors show increased activation in patients with MND. Kinesiotape is a new taping method proposed by Kenzo Kase uses elastic properties to provide less muscular and blood flow restrictions. Postural correction is a common treatment approach includes repetitions of cervical and scapular retraction. Combined treatments has better effect on MND but there is lack of experiments combine kinesiotape with posture correction The purpose: was to determine the effect of kinesio taping and postural correction exercises on levator scapula electromyographic activities

STUDY DESIGN
Intervention assignment Allocation to intervention If randomised, describe how the allocation sequence was generated Describe how the allocation sequence/code was concealed from the person allocating the participants to the intervention arms Masking If masking / blinding was used
Parallel: different groups receive different interventions at same time during study Randomised Simple randomization by using a randomisation table created by a computer software program Numbered containers Masking/blinding used Outcome Assessors
INTERVENTIONS
Intervention type Intervention name Dose Duration Intervention description Group size Nature of control
Experimental Group kinesio taping 2 times per week 4 weeks the first layer was y strip applied without tensiion from T1-2 to the occipit with the head in position of contralateral sidebending and rotation then the second layer which will be I strip will be applied perpindicular to the first one on mid cervical region with moderate tension bend 30 Active-Treatment of Control Group
Experimental Group postural correction exercises 2 times per week 4 weeks 2 main exercises will performed the first is cervical retraction exercises by asking the patient to chin in for 10 seconds . the second exercise will be scapular retraction in which patients will be asked to retract their scapulae for 10 seconds .Each exercise will be performed as 3 sets of 10 repetitions 30 Active-Treatment of Control Group
Experimental Group kinesio taping and postural correction exercises 2 times per week 4 weeks postural correction exercises program in form of cervical and scapular retraction exercises will be performed while 2 layers of kinesio tape applied to posterior cervical extensor muscles 30 Active-Treatment of Control Group
