Brief summary describing the background
and objectives of the trial
|
Changes in population demographics, technological advancements, and the increased communicable and non-communicable diseases, have resulted in the need for changing the nursing healthcare delivery systems(World Health Organization, 2016). However, owing to the shortage of competent and experienced professional nurses, healthcare systems are forced to hire newly graduate nurses by hoping that, they have achieved a maximum level of clinical meta-competencies to function independently, in delivering a quality and cost-effective care among people(Kaphagawani & Useh, 2018). Scholars have linked the issues of incompetent nurses who are available in the system with the predominant use of conversational pedagogical approaches that have argued to have little influence in clinical meta-competence among nursing graduates. Worth noting the use of technology promises to bring a sustainable academic solution in nursing worldwide. As it has worked elsewhere, the uses of Web-based learning (WBL), for example, has become an increasingly vital instructional tool in nursing education, as it offers the potentials for promoting academic motivation and clinical competencies among nursing students. Despite its popularity, little has been demonstrated on its application and use in Tanzanian nursing education system. Therefore, this study intends to explore the acceptability and feasibility of an interactive web-based clinical practice monitoring system towards improving academic motivation and clinical meta-competencies among nursing students in Tanzania. |
