TRIAL DESCRIPTION
Public title Cryolipolysis On Cardiovascular Risk Factors In Obese Hypertensive Post Menopausal Women
Official scientific title Effect Of Cryolipolysis On Cardiovascular Risk Factors In Obese Hypertensive Post Menopausal Women
Brief summary describing the background and objectives of the trial Hypertension is a condition in which the blood vessels have persistently raised pressure. Blood pressure is created by the force of blood pushing against the walls of blood vessels as it is pumped by the heart. The higher the pressure is, the harder the heart must pump (WHO, 2015). Hypertension is a risk factor for stroke and heart diseases (Matthews, 2017).It was reported that, after age 50, about 30-50% of women develop hypertension (more than 140/90 mmHg) (Matthews, 2017). The prevalence of hypertension in postmenopausal women is higher than in men because the age-related increases are more rapid in women than in men. In the world, in general, 25% of adult women are hypertensive (Yanes and Reckelhoff, 2018). Cryolipolysis is a new, noninvasive treatment option that may be of benefit in the treatment of excess adipose tissue after menopause (Nasser et al., 2017). It produced nearly reduction in waist circumference and skin folds and can be used for body contouring (ELdesoky et al., 2019). During menopause due to estrogen deficiency, there is an increase in body weight and redistribution of body fat leading to central or visceral obesity. The fat is concentrated at the waist resulting in abdominal obesity. Also, there is increase in blood cholesterol level, low density lipoprotein (LDL), triglyceride (TG) and highly significant decrease in high density lipoprotein (HDL) (Kumar, 2018; Arnold, 2019). All of that are important risk markers of cardiovascular disease, the major cause of death among postmenopausal women (Zhang, 2020). The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of cryolipolysis on cardiovascular risk factors in obese hypertensive postmenopausal women.
