Pulmonary rehabilitation in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a standard component of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease treatment protocol known to improve exercise capacity and health-related quality of life and to reduce the number of hospitalization days. Recently, several investigations have reported the benefit of Neuromuscular electrical stimulation of the lower limbs has been successfully utilized as a useful alternative training method in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. 13 Increases in quadriceps femoris strength improve exercise tolerance and quality of life after neuromuscular electrical stimulation. however, None of these studies has analyzed the combined effect of pulmonary rehabilitation and neuromuscular electrical stimulation on psycholosocial outcomes |
