STUDY DESIGN
Intervention assignment Allocation to intervention If randomised, describe how the allocation sequence was generated Describe how the allocation sequence/code was concealed from the person allocating the participants to the intervention arms Masking If masking / blinding was used
Parallel: different groups receive different interventions at same time during study Randomised Simple randomisation using a radomisation table created by a computer software program Allocation was determined by the holder of the sequence who is situated off site Open-label(Masking Not Used)
INTERVENTIONS
Intervention type Intervention name Dose Duration Intervention description Group size Nature of control
Control Group CXL 1st then ICRS after 6 months Once 6 months Standard epithelium-off CXL, 30 minutes soaking time with riboflavin, 30 minutes UVA corneal irradiation continuous mode. 6 months later kera rings are implanted with femtosecond laser 62 Active-Treatment of Control Group
Experimental Group ICRS 1st then CXL after 6 months Once 6 months Kera rings implantation with femtosecond laser. 6 months later, accelerated CXL, 10 minutes soaking time with riboflavin, 8 minutes UVA corneal irradiation pulsed mode. 58
Experimental Group combined ICRS and CXL Once 60 minutes Kera rings implantation with femtosecond laser to be followed immediately by accelerated CXL, 10 minutes soaking time with riboflavin, 8 minutes UVA corneal irradiation pulsed mode. 47
