TRIAL DESCRIPTION
Public title Avoidance of short-term lymphatic complications in extraperitoneal radical cystectomy, prospective randomized study
Official scientific title prospective randomized study between different methods of lymphatics ligation during extraperitoneal radical cystectomy
Brief summary describing the background and objectives of the trial Radical cystectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy and urinary diversion is considered to be the gold standard for treatment of non-metastatic muscle-invasive and high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. We adopt open extraperitoneal approach. However, it led to the emergence of lymphatic complications. There is so little in the literature about the most favorable method for lymphatics ligation that’s why we decided to design this study. this study compares between monopolar, bipolar and clips in lymphatics ligation during extraperitoneal radical cystectomy . the objective of our study is to find the most effective method of lymphatic ligation with the least complications

STUDY DESIGN
Intervention assignment Allocation to intervention If randomised, describe how the allocation sequence was generated Describe how the allocation sequence/code was concealed from the person allocating the participants to the intervention arms Masking If masking / blinding was used
Parallel: different groups receive different interventions at same time during study Randomised Simple randomization using by using procedures such as coin-tossing or dice-rolling Sealed opaque envelopes Masking/blinding used Care giver/Provider
INTERVENTIONS
Intervention type Intervention name Dose Duration Intervention description Group size Nature of control
Control Group monopolar at time of operation using monopolar energy only to do lymphadenectomy 30 Active-Treatment of Control Group
Experimental Group bipolar at time of operation using bipolar energy / ligasure to do lymphadenectomy 45
Experimental Group clips at time of operation using only clips for lymphatics ligation during lymphadenectomy 45
