Efficacy and safety of a squalamine ointment for the treatment of tinea capitis was tested in Bamako (Mali) in a randomized controlled double-blind clinical trial that enrolled twenty school aged children, 5 in squalamine and 20 in placebo arms for three weeks. Primary endpoint was complete clinical cure. Clinical and mycological evaluations were done at day-0, 7 and 21. Hair-growth score was better (p=0.03) in children treated with squalamine compared to those treated with placebo |
