TRIAL DESCRIPTION
Public title Single triangle versus Fox pentagon Frontalis Sling.
Official scientific title Single Triangle versus Fox Pentagon Frontalis Suspension for Severe Congenital Ptosis Correction.
Brief summary describing the background and objectives of the trial Frontalis suspension is a well-known surgical procedure for the correction of congenital ptosis with poor levator function (less than 4 mm). There are many sling patterns without consensus on the optimal one: single loop, double loop, and single-strip design.Single loop design includes different shapes: pentagonal, rectangular, and triangular. Fox pentagon frontalis suspension is one of the most commonly-used techniques without any logical reason being evident. In spite of the theoretical simplicity of the single triangle sling design; there are a few reports on its use in the literature. The purpose of this study is to compare the functional and cosmetic outcomes of two different frontalis sling designs for correction of severe congenital ptosis: single triangle and Fox pentagon technique.

STUDY DESIGN
Intervention assignment Allocation to intervention If randomised, describe how the allocation sequence was generated Describe how the allocation sequence/code was concealed from the person allocating the participants to the intervention arms Masking If masking / blinding was used
Parallel: different groups receive different interventions at same time during study Randomised Simple randomization using a randomization table created by a computer software program Sealed opaque envelopes Masking/blinding used Outcome Assessors
INTERVENTIONS
Intervention type Intervention name Dose Duration Intervention description Group size Nature of control
Experimental Group Single triangle group 2 years Upper lid crease and single suprabrow incisions are made. Using a large curved reverse cutting needle, the PTFE (Gore-Tex CV2) sling is passed in a retroseptal plane through the upper lid in a monotriangular configuration The sling is directly sutured to the tarsus and frontalis muscle. 30
Control Group Fox pentagon group 2 years Upper lid crease and three suprabrow incisions are made. Using a large curved reverse cutting needle, the PTFE (Gore-Tex CV2) sling is passed in a retroseptal plane through the upper lid in a pentagon configuration. The sling is directly sutured to the tarsus and frontalis muscle. 30 Active-Treatment of Control Group
